Out-of-office reply
An out-of-office reply is an automatic message sent by someone's mail account to say that they are away.
Why it matters when you send from your own Gmail
It is not an answer, and counting it as one distorts every number you track. It often names a return date or a colleague, which is useful. Honest Intros recognises these notices, pauses the sequence until the stated return date and does not treat the message as a reply. Do not answer an automatic reply, and do not mail the colleague named in it unless the same rules allow it.
Example
You write on Monday and get back: I am away until the 14th and will reply when I return. Your follow-up waits until the 14th and then goes out as normal.
What to do
Read the return date and the named colleague, but do not act on them blindly. Wait until the person is back, then continue, and leave the colleague alone unless the same rules apply to them.
